Field Engineer

 

SUMMARY

Lynx Field Application Engineers (FAE) are expected to have embedded software development skills, provide architectural consulting and advanced technical support for customer engagements, provide customer feedback internally to shape product roadmap, and develop advanced proof of concept systems out of Lynx products for customer projects and marketing events. They are expected to travel to customer facilities.

Job Overview

As a Field Application Engineer (FAE), you are the vital technical link between our engineering development and our customers and partners. Your goal is to generate technical solutions and collaborate successfully with our customers to have those implemented by customers in deployed systems. Our FAEs are expected to have a broad background and understanding of the embedded HW/SW market and familiarty with pertinent new technical trends associated with security, IoT system architectures and software containers. Our FAEs have hands-on development skills and create Proof of Concept (PoC) and product demonstrations to support sales opportunities. They lead architectural and solution design discussions with our customers to increase their confidence in our technology, gain commitments from customers to adopt Lynx products in new designs and ensure the technical success of those developments. FAEs also solicit customer feedback and advocate internally to shape our product roadmap. Travel to customer facilities across the US is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop/maintain technical expertise in Lynx products and provide field technical leadership as an expert system engineer
  • Architectural consulting and solution design with customer projects and technology partners
  • Document and advocate for customer field requests internally to shape product roadmaps
  • Hands-on creation of customer-facing PoCs and product demonstrations showcasing Lynx products for targeted embedded applications
  • Deliver demonstrations and presentations to highlight product features and technical superiority, provide technical assistance for evaluations and/or proof-of-concept engagements
  • Conduct product training classes held either at Lynx premises or customer site and assist in the creation of new courseware
  • Assist with onsite Professional Services engagements
  • Provide assistance to Marketing in the form of written white papers, technical articles, blogs and support of events with demos and presentations

Required skills / education

  • Must be a US citizen (Lynx has a large military/DoD customer base)
  • BS/MS in Computer Science/EE plus a minimum of 5 years of experience required
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux internals, C/C++/Java programming, device drivers
  • Deep knowledge of Intel/ARM/PowerPC Architectures is essential
  • Experience with RTOS, debug tools & virtualization/hypervisors
  • Familiarity of building connected products to public cloud infrastructure such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon and GCP
  • Pre-sales support experience, preferably supporting the development of complex embedded systems
  • Good debugging skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Self-motivated, operating without day-to-day direction
