Embedded software leader furthers commitment to providing the highest quality products and services to customers
SAN JOSÉ, Calif., April 14, 2003—LynuxWorks™ today announced the confirmation of its registration for the ISO 9001:2000 certification as well as several recent partner and customer wins. As part of its continuing corporate quality program, LynuxWorks recently received registration for ISO 9001:2000 certification by Underwriters Laboratories (UL). An ISO certification represents an industry-recognized level of quality and service that enables customers to be confident in their decision to partner with LynuxWorks. In 1999, LynuxWorks received its original ISO 9001 certificate to help ensure the quality and performance of its products and services in mission-critical applications.
This new version of the ISO quality standard places greater accountability on executive management's involvement and measurable quality objectives in the Quality System. Additionally, the audit for compliance with the standard now examines the extent to which a company's Quality System contains customer-focused elements, including understanding needs, meeting requirements, keeping customers informed and measuring satisfaction.
LynuxWorks is committed to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction and quality and as the first embedded RTOS company to achieve the ISO 9001:2000 certification upgrade, we are demonstrating our complete focus on meeting customer requirements and on striving to continually improve our products and processes," said Dr. Inder Singh, CEO of LynuxWorks.
LynuxWorks has also seen recent growth in strategic alliances. For example, key partnerships with Empress Software and Cavium Networks provide LynuxWorks customers with high performance database technology and enhanced security. Empress Software, a leading provider of high-performance database technology for embedded real-time applications, and LynuxWorks, recently announced the immediate availability of Version 8.62 of the Empress database management system for the LynuxWorks' real-time operating system (RTOS), LynxOS® Version 4.0.
Cavium Networks recently joined Lynuxworks' SynergyWorks Alliance program and the partnership has led to demonstrations of 1.1Gbps of encrypted IPsec traffic on a standard Xeon™-based, off-the-shelf server platform. This partnership will help Linux®-based security appliance vendors reduce their crypto-processing hardware cost while simultaneously improving the performance of their security appliances.
Additionally, recent customer wins have added to the company's growth. CF InFlight chose LynxOS as the new operating system to power the Emmy Award-winning Skycam®. The Skycam is a broadcast-quality robotic camera suspended from a cable-driven computerized transport system, which enables it to fly anywhere in a defined three-dimensional space. Skycam has been used for sporting events such as the Summer Olympic Games, U.S. Open Tennis Tournament, the NCAA's Final Four, ESPN's Sunday Night Football and the Pro Bowl.
We're extremely proud of the company's performance, recent partnerships and key customer wins and anticipate higher growth in the embedded industry as markets such as aviation and military and defense and consumer products continue to make LynuxWorks their embedded operating system software provider of choice," continued Dr. Singh.
Skycam from CF InFlight, a Best of Show finalist, as well as a new, unannounced identification system for homeland security can be seen at the LynuxWorks booth (#1526) at the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC) April 23-25 in San Francisco. The company will also be exhibiting at CotsCon East, April 23-24 in Baltimore, MD, as well as the Software Technology Conference April 28-May 1 in Salt Lake City, NV.
